9 adolescents were shot and injured at an after-prom party in Texas.

According to officials, at least nine teenagers were injured in a shooting during an after-prom party in Texas. The injuries sustained by the victims are not considered life-threatening.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the event occurred shortly after midnight Sunday at a residence on County Road 263, just north of Jasper, Texas.

“This investigation is still ongoing, and people of interest are being questioned,” the sheriff’s office stated in a statement issued on Sunday.

According to police, there were roughly 250 individuals at the party when the shooting occurred.

According to police, the majority of casualties were taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital, while others were moved to Christus St. Elizabeth in Beaumont, Texas, for further treatment.

“First and foremost, we want to express our condolences to those who were injured in the shooting that occurred north of town early Sunday morning,” the Jasper School District stated in a statement, according to ABC News Texas affiliate KMBT. “Jasper ISD is assisting law enforcement with their investigation to bring these perpetrators to justice in any way we can.”

“There will be a much larger law enforcement presence this week to ensure student safety,” the school district noted, “as well as counselors on hand for any students who need their assistance.”

According to authorities, a second gunshot occurred within the municipal limits of Jasper on Sunday. The department stated that there may be a link between the two shootings, but the investigation is ongoing.

According to authorities, no reason for the shootings has been found. Anyone with additional information should call the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department.
