Sophie Ecclestone is out of the Women’s Big Bash with a dislocated shoulder.

Ecclestone, 24, was injured during the warm-up for Manchester Originals’ last The Hundred match on Wednesday.

She was assisted off the ground and sent to hospital at Old Trafford.

“After scans and further assessment, the ECB can confirm she will be unavailable for the Women’s Big Bash League,” the ECB said in a statement.

Ecclestone had already been rested for England’s upcoming T20 and ODI series with Sri Lanka, which begins on August 31.

She captained the Originals in The Hundred and played every game in the recent Ashes series against Australia.

The top-ranked one-day and T20 international bowler took ten wickets in the Ashes Test, followed by ten wickets in both white-ball series.

She also took seven wickets in the Originals’ Hundred campaign, which saw them lose out on the knockouts.

The Women’s Big Bash League begins on October 19th, with the draft taking place on September 3rd.
