The San Antonio Spurs picked Victor Welbanyama as the first pick in the 2023 NBA draft.

After the San Antonio Spurs took him with the first pick in the 2023 NBA draft, Victor Wembanyama made it his goal to win an NBA title.

The 19-year-old Frenchman is seen as one of the best possibilities in the game and one of the most wanted picks since LeBron James in 2003.

Wembanyama’s height is given as 7ft 5in, and its wingspan is given as 8ft.

Wembanyama said, “My goal is to try to learn as much as I can because I want to win that ring.”

The NBA draft has two rounds of 30 picks each. In each round, 30 teams pick players based on where they finished last season.

The worst teams get to pick first in the draft, where they can choose from the best players.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver made the picks at the 2023 draft, which was held in Brooklyn.

Wembanyama told ESPN, “This is something I have dreamed of doing my whole life.”

“I’ve dreamed of hearing Adam Silver say that sentence so much that I have to cry, man.”

Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, told Wembanyama that he was “the first Frenchman to be the first pick in the NBA draft.”

In a post on social media, he added, “Victor Wembanyama, you’re already making us dream. You’ll definitely change the game!”

Wembanyama played for the French team Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 last season. In 44 games, he averaged 20.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, and 2.5 assists.

Gregg Popovich, the coach of the San Antonio Spurs, said, “We’re thrilled that we were able to get Victor on board.”

“He has a lot of ability and is a very wise young man. But with every draft pick, whether it’s the first pick, the 27th pick, or the 38th pick, we have a duty to try to give them the best chance of success.

“We’re going to get him on the court and watch him play, and then we’ll decide what to do next.”

Brandon Miller, a 6ft 9in, 20-year-old star at the University of Alabama, went to the Charlotte Hornets as the second pick.

The Portland Trail Blazers picked Scoot Henderson with the third pick. For the past two years, Henderson has played in the NBA’s developing “G-league.”

Amen and Ausar Thompson, twins who are 20 years old, made up the top five picks.

Amen Thompson went to the Houston Rockets with the fourth pick, and Ausar Thompson went to the Detroit Pistons with the fifth pick.
