Women’s Champions League: Glasgow, Cardiff, and Shelbourne are paired with Arsenal, who will play Linkoping.

Due to Glasgow City, Cardiff City, and Shelbourne being placed in the same first-round group, Arsenal will open their Women’s Champions League campaign against Linkoping of Sweden.

The Scottish champions will compete against their Irish rivals in one semifinal, and the victors will play either the Welsh champions Cardiff or the Lithuanian champion Gintra in the mini-final.

If the 2007 champions advance, Arsenal, who made it to the final four last season, will play either Paris or Kryvbas of Ukraine in their final.

Scottish finalists Celtic will play either Minsk of Belarus or Valerenga of Norway in their semifinal matchup against Brondby of Denmark.

The defending champions of Northern Ireland, Cliftonville, take on Benfica in the section semifinals. The victor will play either Riga of Latvia or Shymkent of Kazakhstan.

Manchester United is a first-time participant in the competition, like Cliftonville, but round two also sees the entry of England’s runners-up.

The defending champions Barcelona, former Champions League winners Lyon, and Bayern Munich all advanced directly to the 16-team group stage, along with English champions Chelsea, who were also losing semifinalists the previous season.

On May 24, 25, or 26, the championship game will be held at Sporting Lisbon’s Estadio Jose Alvalade.
