Youngster from Gambia joins Newcastle United from Odense in Denmark, Yankuba Minteh
Yankuba Minteh, a Gambian winger, has been acquired by Newcastle United from Odense of Denmark.
The 18-year-old will reportedly begin playing for the Magpies on July 1 before being loaned out to Feyenoord in the Netherlands for the 2023–24 campaign.
In 17 Superliga games in 2022–2023, Minteh recorded four goals and six assists.
Newcastle United’s sporting director Dan Ashworth said, “We are delighted to be bringing a player with Yankuba’s high potential to Newcastle United.”
“He has had a very successful first full season in Denmark and has a bright future ahead of him.”
Minteh began his career with the Gambian team Steve Biko FC before relocating to Denmark in July of last year.
Additionally, he participated twice in international friendlies for Gambia against DR Congo and Liberia.
