Barcelona triumphs in a seven-goal thriller over Villarreal.

The reigning La Liga champions Barcelona won 4-3 in an action-packed match at Villarreal.

Three minutes after Ferran Torres’ equalizer, Robert Lewandowski’s strike put Barcelona ahead.

Villarreal rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead after 50 minutes, thanks to goals from Juan Foyth, Alexander Sorloth, and Alex Baena.

Gavi and Frenkie de Jong scored for the visitors within 15 minutes to give Barcelona an early lead.

Before De Jong got on the end of a Lewandowski backheel in the box, Gavi headed in from a Lamine Yamal cross.

Foyth headed home from Baena’s corner before Sorloth equalized after an amazing Yellow Submarine team play.

Baena scored early in the second half, looping the ball past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Villarreal were then held back as Torres equalized from close range for Barcelona, before Lewandowski’s close-range goal won the three points for Barca in a tense match.

With three games played, Xavi’s team is presently third, two points behind leaders Real Madrid.
