Croatia midfielder Luka Modric has signed a new one-year contract with Real Madrid.

Luka Modric has agreed to a new one-year contract extension with Real Madrid that would keep him at the club until the summer of 2024.

The Croatian midfielder, whose contract at Real Madrid was about to expire, had been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia’s Pro League.

Since joining Real from Tottenham in 2012, Modric has made 488 appearances, winning three La Liga crowns and five Champions Leagues.

In 2018, he also won the Ballon d’Or as Croatia advanced to the World Cup final.

Modric tweeted “Home Sweet Home” after learning of his new deal in the Spanish city.

He joins Toni Kroos, Dani Ceballos, and Nacho Fernandez in extending their contracts with the club this summer, and is an important player for the 14-time European winners.

Real Madrid have already completed the high-profile signing of England international Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer to bolster competition for midfield positions.
