Tyrese Haliburton suffered an injury when the Indiana Pacers defeated the Boston Celtics.

Haliburton was helped off by teammates after sustaining a hamstring strain late in the second period.

Bennedict Mathurin added 26 points off the bench for the Pacers, who trailed 68-59 at halftime.

“We lost the best player on the team, so my role was to step up and help the team win the game,” Mathurin said in a statement.

“Ty was down, but the squad seemed to know what to do. Everyone needed to step forward. “If your name is called, be prepared to play.”

Haliburton, who joined the Pacers from the Sacramento Kings in 2022, had a team-high 24.2 points and a league-high 12.7 assists in 32 games before facing the Celtics at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indiana.

Boston is the Eastern Conference’s top team, with a 28-8 record, while Indiana improves to 21-15.

Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant will miss the remainder of the season after hurting his shoulder during practice on Saturday.
