Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu separates from her fifth coach in less than two years.

Emma Raducanu, a former US Open winner, has parted ways with coach Sebastian Sachs, making him her fifth coach in under two years.

Following a “red flag” warning from the former coach Dmitry Tursunov, Sachs joined the British player’s squad in December.

As she recovers from minor surgery on her ankle and hands, Raducanu was compelled to miss the French Open and won’t be available for Wimbledon this year.

The 20-year-old is no longer ranked among the top 100 women in the world.

Raducanu wrote on her Twitter account, “I have truly enjoyed Seb’s teaching and working with him. It’s unfortunate that circumstances made it untenable for both of us to continue right now, and we have decided to split ways.

“I’m hoping for the best for Seb in the future,”

Her solitary singles victory, which she earned at the 2021 US Open, comes despite injuries and a changing coaching team for Raducanu.

Only 10 WTA Tour matches were played by her in 2023, and she only managed to win five of them. Three of her wins came at Indian Wells, where she also lost to Polish world number one Iga Swiatek.

There are no longer any British women in the top 100 due to Raducanu’s decline in the rankings to position 107 as a result of her lack of match victories. She will not automatically qualify for this year’s US Open; instead, she must either go through qualifying or be offered a wildcard in order to compete there, assuming she is physically capable of doing so.

Since only three men and no women qualified for the main draws at Roland Garros this year, the lack of British talent in the singles has attracted criticism. Dan Evans and Jack Draper withdrew in the first round, leaving only Britain’s top seed and world number 13 Cameron Norrie as the sole survivor.

Draper, a talented young British player who had to withdraw from his first-round match in Paris against Tomas Martin Etcheverry due to a shoulder problem, is another potential young player who has been handicapped by a string of injuries.

The alliance had just started in December, so it was still quite young.

Due to Raducanu’s struggles with numerous injuries and a case of tonsillitis, it only lasted five tournaments and 10 matches in the end.

Since the winner of the 2021 US Open is not expected to play again for several months, Sachs is left with little to do. However, the relationship’s foundation could not have been sturdy enough to endure.

After his surgery, Raducanu has plenty of time to consider his alternatives and identify the person who will help him regain his confidence and status.
