Donald Trump is scheduled to appear in court to face allegations related to confidential materials.

Donald Trump is expected in court in Florida on allegations of mishandling secret papers after leaving the White House.

The former president will appear in court for the second time this year on Tuesday for a first hearing in Miami.

Miami’s police chief stated that his supporters will number between 5,000 and 50,000.

Meanwhile, Mr Trump spent the night at his city hotel resort.

The 76-year-old will most likely be driven from the Trump National Doral property to the Wilkie D Ferguson Jr courthouse, where his arraignment is planned for 15:00 local time (20:00 BST).

Following the 25-minute drive, Mr Trump is due to appear before a judge and deny 37 counts of illegally retaining confidential materials and impeding the government’s efforts to recover them.

The meeting will last around an hour and will address different procedural problems, though a trial date is unlikely to be set. A judge previously denied press organizations’ request for photo and video access inside.

Mr. Trump, who has continually denied any wrongdoing, is likely to return to his golf estate in Bedminster, New Jersey, where he will address the media.

The indictment, made public on Friday, comes after more than 100 documents with classified markings were discovered in August at Mr Trump’s private Florida home Mar-a-Lago.

They supposedly held information about the US and foreign countries’ defense and weapons capabilities, as well as plans for possible reprisal in the event of a foreign assault.

Prosecutors accuse him of hoarding the secret files, concealing some of them in a ballroom and a bathroom, and of conspiring with an aide to obstruct the FBI’s investigation.
