Juventus starts the process of leaving the breakaway initiative for the European Super League.

Juventus has started the process of leaving the proposed European Super League.

Juventus, Barcelona, and Real Madrid maintained the fundamental tenets of a breakaway league despite the fact that the first plan failed in 2021.

Juve, though, wanted meetings with the Spanish clubs last month, and they have since started talking about leaving the plan.

The Turin club stated that Real and Barca’s approval was required for their departure to be finalized and effective.

“Following such discussions, and given the existing discrepancies on the interpretation of the relevant contractual terms applicable to the Super League Project, Juventus confirms that it has initiated the procedure to exit,” read the statement.

Juventus has had a difficult few months after initially receiving a 15-point deduction from the Italian FA for breaking financial rules.

The penalty was reversed, but after a second hearing, the club agreed to a 10-point fine.

The Turin giants qualified for the Europa Conference League after finishing seventh in Serie A. Without the 10 point penalty, AC Milan would have lost out on a Champions League spot to them.
