The German giants are said to have offered £70 million for the 29-year-old player in the past few days.

Kane, who is the captain of England and whose deal with Spurs runs out in June 2019, scored 30 goals in the Premier League last season.

Postecoglou said, “Kane is one of the best strikers in the world, and I want him to play here.”

“I just want to meet Harry, tell him about myself, tell him what I want to do, and try to understand what he wants to do.

“When I talk to him, we’ll talk about how we can make this club successful, which is definitely what he wants, too.”

When asked if he had any guarantees about Kane’s future, he said, “No, I haven’t had any guarantees, and I wouldn’t expect any. I’m trying to focus on what I know now, which is that Harry is part of the team.

“I don’t think it’s my job to sit there and treat people differently because of how they live. I think it’s important to treat everyone the same.”

Kane is the club’s all-time top scorer, with 280 goals in 435 games. He came up through the club’s youth program.

After Antonio Conte was fired in March, Tottenham chose Postecoglou as their new manager in June.

A month after Conte left, the club fired interim manager Cristian Stellini and put Ryan Mason in charge for the rest of the season. The club ended eighth in the Premier League with Mason in charge.

Postecoglou said that he is putting his attention on the team he has right now instead of guessing what might happen in the trade window.

“Right now, all I know is that Harry is on this team and is excited to get back with the other players, train, and start working together,” he said. “If I worry about effect too much, I won’t have time to try to build a team.

“Building a team in a certain way is what will make us great in the end. I won’t pass up this first chance to figure out what will be important in the long run. It’s not just about one person. There is a central idea about who we want to be as a team and who are the key people in that.”

When asked about his plans for the club, the new manager said that he wants to win trophies.

Postecoglou said, “I want this football club to do well.” “I always take over clubs after they have had one or more bad seasons.

“The thing I value most is making something that will last long after I’m gone. The current situation at Tottenham is what drives me the most.”

Since 2008, when they won the League Cup, Tottenham hasn’t won anything else.
