Bevan French predicts victory for the Wigan Warriors in 2023. award for Steve Prescott MBE in “Man of Steel”

Bevan French, a back with the Wigan Warriors, has been selected as the 2023 Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel.

The Australian, who is also a member of the Super League Dream Team, won the accolade for Wigan for the first time since Sam Tomkins in 2012.

In the Super League Grand Final on Saturday, French will take on Tomkins of the Catalans.

Lewis King earned the first Wheels of Steel title, while hooker Sinead Peach, who won the Grand Final, got the 2023 Woman of Steel award.

French led Wigan to the championship game in a new stand-off position, defeating Catalans winger Tom Johnstone and St Helens fullback Jack Welsby for the title presented to the Super League player of the season.

He was nominated before in 2021 but fell short to full-back Tomkins.

On Sunday, Peach led York Valkyrie to victory in the Women’s Grand Final, ending their winless streak in the championship game.

In 2023, she guided the team to an undefeated campaign and the League Leaders’ Shield.

King is the inaugural recipient of the new Wheels of Steel award. King joined the London Roosters in 2023 following England’s victory in the Wheelchair World Cup in 2022.
