England vs. New Zealand: Chris Jordan replaces injured Josh Tongue in the hosts’ roster.

Josh Tongue, England’s pace bowler, has been ruled out of the T20 series against New Zealand due to injury.

Tongue, 25, was set to make his white-ball debut after impressing in Tests against Ireland and Australia this summer.

Tongue will be replaced by Chris Jordan, England’s all-time T20 wicket-taker, for the four-match series, which begins on Wednesday at Chester-Le-Street.

Tongue joins fellow uncapped bowler John Turner in being forced to withdraw due to injury.

Tongue will also miss Manchester Originals’ The Hundred eliminator against Southern Brave on Saturday due to injury.

Earlier this summer, the Worcestershire spinner claimed 10 wickets in two Tests and impressed with his bounce and movement.

The second and third T20s, which take place on September 1 and 3, will be shown live on BBC TV and BBC iPlayer.

Jos Buttler (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Moeen Ali, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Luke Wood are the England squad for the T20 series against New Zealand.
