Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness are divorcing after 27 years of marriage, according to US media.

The Australian pair told celebrity magazine People that they had been “blessed to share almost three decades together.”

“Our journey is now shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” according to the statement.

In 1995, Jackman and Furness met on the set of the TV show Correlli.

When they met, Furness was an established actress and Jackman was just out of theater school.

They married in April 1996 and later adopted two children, now 23 and 18 years old.

According to People, the pair stated that “family has been and always will be our highest priority.”

“With gratitude, love, and kindness, we embark on the next chapter.” We appreciate your consideration for our privacy while our family navigates this adjustment in all of our lives.”

“This is the only statement either of us will make,” the couple concludes.

Jackman, widely known for his appearances as Wolverine in the X-Men films and spin-offs, as well as roles in The Greatest Showman and Les Miserables, has been open about his connection with Furness on social media.

“I love you Deb,” he said on their most recent wedding anniversary in April. Our 27th wedding anniversary is today. 27 YEARS!!

“I adore you to pieces. We’ve built a lovely family together. And then there’s life. Your spirit, generosity, humour, cheekiness, courage, and loyalty are a wonderful gift to me.

“I love you with all of my heart.”

He also stated that their marriage was as “natural as breathing” on their silver wedding anniversary in 2021.

The couple was spotted together in July at the Wimbledon tennis championships in London, where they were seen cheering on Carlos Alcaraz against Novak Djokovic.
