Lucknow Super Giants defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by one wicket on the final ball of the IPL 2023.

As Lucknow Super Giants defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by one wicket, Nicholas Pooran hit the fastest 50 of the 2023 Indian Premier League.

Before being caught in the deep, the Trinidadian hit 62 off 19 balls, reaching his half-century off just 15 balls.

Lucknow won on the final ball after Harshal Patel’s attempted Mankad dismissal failed.

Bangalore had scored 212-2, with half-centuries from Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell.

With three wins from four games, Lucknow has risen to the top of the IPL table.

They faced defeat after being reduced to 23-3, but Marcus Stoinis fought back with 65 from 30 deliveries before West Indies star Pooran, 27, came up big.

With an opening partnership of 96, Kohli and Du Plessis set the tone for Bangalore before the Indian captain was caught in the deep by Stoinis after hitting 61 from 44 balls.

Du Plessis batted his way to an unbeaten 79 from 46 deliveries, ably supported by Maxwell, who hit 59 from 29 balls in a 115-run second-wicket partnership.

South African Du Plessis hit back-to-back sixes off Ravi Bishnoi in the 15th over, including one off the back foot over the stadium roof, and Jaydev Unadkat in the 18th.

Mark Wood eventually bowled Australian Maxwell off the penultimate ball of the innings. The England bowler recovered from being hit for 14 in his first over to finish with 1-32, the best figures for Lucknow.

Off the third ball of the innings, Mohammed Siraj bowled Kyle Mayers for a duck, and Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya both edged Wayne Parnell behind in the fourth over.
