Mia Fishel: Chelsea sign an American striker, as Emma Hayes praises the ‘elite’ newcomer

The 22-year-old arrives from Tigres in Mexico, where she won the league title last year.

Fishel got her first call-up to the United States in 2020 but has yet to make her international debut.

“I’m super excited, it’s a dream come true and everything that I’ve worked for since I was a kid,” she told Chelsea’s website.

“It’s all been worthwhile, and it’s all paid off because I’m now playing for one of the best clubs in the world.”

“Mia is an exceptional finisher whose box presence and movement make her elite,” Chelsea manager Emma Hayes said. She can also make something out of nothing, and her peak years are still ahead of her.”

Fishel led Tigres to the Liga MX Femenil Apertura title last season, with the Monterrey-based club winning the first half of the season, which is divided into two championships.
