PSG boss Christophe Galtier confirms Lionel Messi’s departure.

Messi, who will join PSG on a free transfer from Barcelona in July 2021, has helped the club win two consecutive Ligue 1 titles.

“I had the honor of coaching the greatest player in football history,” Galtier stated.

“This will be his final match at Parc des Princes, and I hope he receives a warm welcome.”

Following fan protests, PSG enhanced security at Messi’s, Neymar’s, Marco Verratti’s, and Galtier’s houses last month.

It came after Lorient’s defeat and Messi’s suspension for two weeks for traveling to Saudi Arabia without PSG’s permission. Later, he apologized to his teammates.

Messi lead Argentina to World Cup success in 2022 and appeared likely to continue at PSG following his return from the championship.

Before altering their minds, the two parties negotiated an agreement in principle to prolong his stay by a year.

Messi has 21 goals and 20 assists for PSG this season in all competitions, and 32 goals in 74 games for the club altogether.
According to manager Christophe Galtier, Lionel Messi will play his final game for Paris St-Germain against Clermont on Saturday.

PSG has been eliminated from the Champions League in the last-16 stage the last two seasons.

According to Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague, Messi will make a choice on his future soon but will not return to Barcelona, where he spent 21 years.
