Chelsea captain Reece James has been given a one-match ban and fined £90,000 after an incident in the tunnel.

The defense agreed to using “improper, insulting, and abusive language and behavior” toward a match referee.

The England international had previously been believed to have confronted referee Jarred Gillett.

Due to a hamstring injury, the 23-year-old did not play in the game.

Right-back James injured his hamstring in training last month after struggling with injuries during the 2022-23 season.

The FA stated that James had conceded the charge and that the written reasons would be published “as soon as possible.”
