A Manchester United defender named Scott McTominay says that the team is “firmly behind” Erik ten Hag.

They lost to Bournemouth 3-0 on Saturday in the Premier League. It was their 11th loss in 23 games this season across all categories.

They need to beat Bayern Munich on Tuesday at Old Trafford if they want to stay in the Champions League.

In the first place, McTominay said, “it is the players’ responsibility.”

“Our team has had a lot of great players, and now we have some big personalities in the locker room.”

“It’s not just like with some other managers where things have gotten tense at times; the boys are fully behind the manager.”

“Our coaching staff is great.” It’s very simple: we just want to do well for the football club.

The 27-year-old midfielder McTominay played his first game for Manchester United in 2017 under Jose Mourinho.

That was last week, Ten Hag, who is in his second season as manager at Old Trafford. He denied that there are disagreements in the locker room, saying that he and his team are “together.”

Players were said to be unhappy under David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and temporary manager Ralf Rangnick. The level of the problems varied.

In an interview in September, Solskjaer said that some of the players’ actions while he was manager were bad.

United is sixth in the Premier League and last in their Champions League group. To make it to the last 16, they need to beat Bayern and hope that other teams lose.

The captain also said, “We have been aware for a while that as a team we are inconsistent.”

“We’ve talked about it with the coaching staff.” Even though the scheduling has been crazy, we can’t use that as an excuse. We need to work together to find the answers.

“Every team in the Premier League and the Champions League is very athletic, and every team can run. When you play for this club, you need to be just as athletic and more.”

“The manager can’t do too much from the sidelines, it needs to come from the players.”

Ten Hag, meanwhile, said that his team’s inconsistency was partly due to fitness problems compared to last season, when they finished in third place, which was a good result.

“We had a regular team [last season], not so many changes, especially in our backline – we had a regular formation and that helps you,” he said.

“When we play more often, we’ll be better, and there’s a better chance that you’ll be consistent.”

“I am sure that this team can do really well. We did it last week, not three months ago like that. It starts with having the right frame of mind.

The word “toxic” was used by Scott McTominay as his last answer at the news conference. In order to support the current United manager, he said that the players had turned against the managers who came before.

People must think that if something has happened before, it can happen again.

Manchester United has a very busy week coming up. Bayern Munich first, then Liverpool on Sunday. There is a huge change in mood between two wins and two losses.

United has been very inconsistent this season, and Ten Hag’s plan to fix this problem by bringing back players won’t work for days. It’s not likely that Lisandro Martinez will be back before Christmas.

Even though they played well against Galatasaray, they did not win, and Chelsea’s terrible showing at Goodison Park on Sunday has made the win against Chelsea last week seem less impressive.

There’s no way to know what kind of United will show up at Old Trafford on Tuesday. But after losing 5-1 to Frankfurt over the weekend, everyone knows that Bayern will be very driven. They are already the group winners, so they have nothing to lose.
