Armita Geravand: Iranian girl passes away after collapsing on the Tehran metro

According to activists and state media, an adolescent Iranian girl who had allegedly gotten into a fight with morality police earlier this month and went into a coma has passed away.

On October 1, after boarding a Tehran metro train, 16-year-old Armita Geravand passed out.

She was allegedly assaulted by morality police for not donning a hijab, although officials maintained that she passed out.

According to state news agency Irna, she passed away early on Saturday morning after “suffering from brain damage”.

After receiving “intensive medical treatment” for 28 days, Armita passed away, according to the youth ministry-affiliated Borna news agency.

Armita’s parents did not immediately confirm this.
