Australia vs. Pakistan: The hosts finish the first day of the second Test on 187-3.

Marnus Labuschagne was 44 not out and Travis Head was undefeated on 10 as the hosts attempted to win the series.

David Warner had 38 points, Usman Khawaja had 42, and Steve Smith had 26.

After the International Cricket Council (ICC) reprimanded him for wearing a black armband in support of civilians in Gaza during the first Test, Khawaja had his daughters’ names written on his shoes.

During the second Test, the 37-year-old was denied permission to wear a sticker depicting a black dove grasping an olive branch on his bat and shoes.

During international matches, players are not permitted to broadcast slogans supporting political, religious, or racial causes, according to ICC rules.

Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley said the organization welcomed Khawaja’s request to wear the dove sign, characterizing him as “passionate about human rights.”

“The ICC has its regulations and they are there for good reason so we have to respect those,” Hockley told reporters.

“But I think the main way we deal with this is through good communication and working together.”

Khawaja, a Muslim, has stated that his message is a “humanitarian appeal” rather than a political remark.

Australia captain Pat Cummins stated on Monday that the team understood Khawaja’s wish to demonstrate solidarity with the people of Gaza.

“I don’t know the ins and outs of the application, but I think it is pretty vanilla, a dove,” he told me.

“We firmly believe in Uzzy. I feel he is speaking out for what he thinks in a very polite manner.”
