Ben Stokes, England’s Test captain, will forgo the 2024 Indian Premier League in order to manage his fitness and workload.
Stokes, 32, will undergo knee surgery before England’s five-match Test series in India next year.
Stokes was the most expensive signing for the Chennai Super Kings for the 2023 IPL, however he only played twice due to injury.
CSK said in a statement that their “management is supportive” of Stokes’ “decision to manage his workload.”
In his two outings for the Super Kings in the 2023 season, Stokes scored 15 runs and bowled one over for 18 runs.
