Mr. Asghari, 29, stated “irreconcilable differences” in a divorce petition filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

According to the paperwork, he requests that Ms Spears pay spousal support and legal fees.

Ms Spears, 41, claimed she was “a little shocked” by the termination of her six-year relationship with Mr Asghari.

In an Instagram post on their breakup, the singer said, “I’m not here to explain why because it’s honestly nobody’s business.”

“I’ve been playing it strong for far too long, and while my Instagram may appear perfect, it’s far from reality, as I’m sure we all know,” she continued.

“I’d love to show my emotions and tears on how I truly feel, but for some reason, I’ve always had to conceal my flaws.”

Ms Spears stated that she would be “as strong as I possibly can” and that she was “actually doing pretty damn well.”

Mr Asghari, an Iranian-American actor, model, and fitness trainer, met Ms Spears in 2016 while filming the music video for her song Slumber Party.

The couple got engaged in September 2021 and married last June in a simple ceremony.

Mr Asghari wrote on Instagram, “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together.”

“We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other, and I wish her the best always.”

“Asking for privacy seems ridiculous [sic], so I’ll just ask everyone, including the media, to be kind and thoughtful,” he continued.
