Defending champions Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram reach the men’s doubles semifinals at the US Open 2023.

Defending champions Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram advanced to the US Open semi-finals after defeating Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni in straight sets.

Salisbury and American Ram, winners in 2021 and 2022, have won 16 consecutive races in New York.

They came back from a 3-0 down in the second set to defeat Argentine duo Gonzalez and Molteni 6-4, 6-3.

They will face either second seeds Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek or Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski in the final.

Third seeds Salisbury and Ram have already won three of their four matches in straight sets as they look to win their fourth major title together at Flushing Meadows.

While a single break of service was enough to win the first set, the fifth seeds on Louis Armstrong Stadium made them work harder for the second.

Gonzalez and Molteni broke serve on their way to a 3-0 lead, saving three break opportunities in the process.

However, a love hold in the fourth game kicked off a six-game winning streak for Salisbury and Ram, who won on a second match point after one hour and 42 minutes.

Potential opponents in the semi-finals After Britain’s Neal Skupski and Dutch teammate Wesley Koolhof were knocked out in the third round, Dodig and Krajicek are the highest ranked seeds still in the draw.
