England will play their first Test in Japan in June 2024.

England will travel to Japan next year for the country’s first-ever Test match between the two sides.

Steve Borthwick’s team will face the Brave Blossoms on June 22, 2024, at a location to be determined.

The teams have met three times, with England winning the most recent match 52-13 in last year’s autumn Tests.

England, who meet Japan in the World Cup group stage this year, toured Japan in 1971 and 1979, although the games were not Tests.

“This is a watershed moment for our two rugby nations,” RFU CEO Bill Sweeney remarked.

Masato Tsuchida, president of the JRFU, adding, “We are delighted to welcome England to Japan next year.”

England will play Japan in the opening game of Group D at the World Cup in France on September 17 in Nice.
