Forest’s stunning triumph at Newcastle is aided by a hat-trick from Wood.

Prior to Tuesday’s other games, Forest climbs up to 16th in the table, five points clear of the bottom three.

Alexander Isak appeared to have given Eddie Howe’s side the lead when he hammered home a penalty midway through the first half after collapsing under a challenge from Ola Aina.

Newcastle, on the other hand, only threatened infrequently in attack and appeared vulnerable to a rejigged Forest side set up to counter-attack quickly.

For the visitors, Morgan Gibbs-White pulled an early effort wide, while Anthony Elanga wasted two wonderful chances before combining with the former England Under-21 midfielder to allow Wood to tap home a deserved equalizer before the break.

Wood doubled to his tally immediately after the break, rushing on to Elanga’s pass and shimmying past home defender Dan Burn to loft the ball over goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

After Murillo’s through ball launched him clear of an absent Newcastle defense, he finished with another clinical finish.

Both Elanga and Gibbs-White had chances to further harm the hosts, who dropped to seventh in the league after their fourth defeat in five Premier League games.
