Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury: British heavyweight claims thrilling split decision victory over former UFC fighter

Ngannou, 37, connected with a left hook to put Fury on the canvas in round three.

However, two judges gave it to Fury at 96-93 and 95-94, while one judge gave it to Ngannou at 95-94.

The WBC heavyweight title was not in jeopardy for Fury.

Fury told TNT Sports, “That definitely wasn’t in the script.”

“I was knocked down after being caught behind my head. Nothing hurt me. I stood up and resumed my boxing.

“He’s a good puncher and an awkward man, and I have a lot of respect for him.” I’ve had one of my hardest fights in the past ten years with him.”
