During Wednesday’s La Liga encounter against Athletic Bilbao, loanee forward Greenwood, 21, was reportedly besieged with shouts calling for his death.

Greenwood’s criminal charges, which included attempted rape and violence, were dismissed in February.

Greenwood is on loan from Manchester United to Getafe for the season.

The club stated that the shouts had been “occurring repeatedly” at games, but did not name any players, members of staff, opposition teams, or particular occurrences in the statement.

“The players and coaches of Getafe are aware of the media impact of playing in the best league in the world,” said the statement.

“But, beyond that, they are people with feelings, who have family and friends who suffer with them and deserve respect.”
