The ethereal singer-songwriter, whose parents were involved in the counterculture movements of the 1960s and 1970s, was born and raised in Los Angeles.

However, Natalie Mering, a 35-year-old real-life person, feels that the fixation on “the good old days” has turned into something “really toxic” for young people who are attempting to succeed in the “exponentially” changing modern world.

She says, “I do think it’s a little harder to have the life that our parents had, and to potentially give that life to children that we may have,” just before her Holy Flux tour heads to the UK.
