England wing Jonny May has announced his retirement from the game.

With 36 tries in 78 Tests, the 33-year-old, who made his debut in 2013, is the second-highest try scorer in history for the England men, behind only Rory Underwood.

May was called up to cover for Anthony Watson due to an injury before being included in England’s World Cup squad in France.

“Words can’t describe the journey that I’ve been on so I won’t try to put it into words,” May stated.

“To everyone who has shared this journey with me, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“Representing my country is an honor and a dream, and even though I won’t be physically on the field anymore, I will always feel a part of this team.”
