Jannik Sinner wins the China Open over Carlos Alcaraz and will meet Daniil Medvedev in the final.

Sinner defeated Spain’s two-time major winner on Tuesday, 7-6 (7-4) 6-1, and currently leads the series 4-3.

The 22-year-old Italian stated his performance was at the “very top” of those he had delivered in major contests.

In the other semi-final, Medvedev defeated Alexander Zverev 6-4, 6-3.

Russia’s world number three, 27, has won all six prior meetings with Sinner.

The Italian, who will finish fourth in the world after the event, says he would “change a couple of things” tactically for Wednesday’s final in Beijing.

Britain’s Boulter is defeated by world number one Sabalenka.
He can also draw a lot of confidence from his outstanding performance against Alcaraz.

Sinner won a first-set tie-break in which he never trailed and then saved five break points on his way to dominating the second set, using his strong groundstrokes to unsettle the 20-year-old Spaniard.

“I would say that every match against him is extremely difficult. Sinner stated of his intense rivalry with Alcaraz, “We always show great respect, and we both play great.”

“When we play against one other, we strive to stay within our comfort zones.

“I played a little better in the crucial moments.” It was 6-1 in the second set, but he had a lot of chances, so I just tried to stay concentrated.

“The first set was a little more of a rollercoaster and I tried to stay there mentally and obviously I’m very happy with the performance.”
