Maddison stars as Tottenham beats Bournemouth

James Maddison scored his first goal for Tottenham and put up an outstanding individual effort as Spurs continued their winning streak under Ange Postecoglou with a win at Bournemouth.

Maddison’s goal came at the end of a fluid Spurs move that included Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr, and it came only moments after Cherries goalkeeper Neto had saved another effort from the 26-year-old.

Spurs had the better chances before halftime, but Richarlison, who had a tough afternoon, was unable to add to his season total despite being in several prime goalscoring situations.

Bournemouth made a strong start to the second half, and Antoine Semenyo nearly equalized after scoring at Anfield last weekend, but his curling effort from the edge of the box sailed narrowly wide of the top corner.

Full-back, young Destiny Udogie set up the visitors’ second goal, combining well with Heung-min Son before cutting the ball back for Dejan Kulusevski, who found the far corner for his first goal of the season.

Spurs have seven points from their first three league games, but Bournemouth’s hunt for their first win of the season continues after a second consecutive defeat.
