Mason Greenwood: It would be’very surprised’ if Manchester United’s forward moved to Saudi Arabia.

Greenwood, 21, will depart Manchester United by mutual consent following a six-month internal probe into his behavior.

This summer, Saudi teams have spent heavily on big-name acquisitions, and Greenwood has been mentioned internally.

However, the league believes it would be the wrong option at this time.

In Saudi Arabia, the league does the bidding or deal for players before allocating which club they will play for, which differs from other countries.

The Saudi Women’s Premier League also had its maiden season last year.

Women’s football in Saudi Arabia is “breaking records,” according to Lamia Bahaian, the first female vice-president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (Saff).

Last year, the Saff saw an 86% increase in registered female players, while the number of women’s clubs nationwide increased by 56%.

“The government has created a women’s league, which is about to begin its second season on October 11,” the insider stated. That is also a significant distinction because it is viewed as affecting the entire community.

“That is a remarkable transformation; women’s football was previously frowned upon; now there is a national team with a Fifa ranking.”

“Women are playing without head coverings, and male fans are in the stands; that is a significant cultural shift.”

Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 as a result of allegations involving online material.

On February 2, 2023, charges against the 21-year-old England international, including attempted rape and violence, were dropped.

“All those involved, including Mason, recognize the difficulties with him resuming his career at Manchester United,” United stated in a statement on Monday.
