Results of the US Open 2023: Novak Djokovic defeats Taylor Fritz to reach his 47th major semi-final.

The Serb, 36, won 6-1 6-4 6-4 on Arthur Ashe Stadium to keep his quest for a record-tying 24th Grand Slam championship alive.

Djokovic won despite initially looking to struggle with the heat and humidity in New York.

In the final four, the three-time champion will face Frances Tiafoe or Ben Shelton.

Following world number nine Fritz’s fall, the winner of Tuesday’s all-American quarter-final between Tiafoe and Shelton will now carry the host nation’s hopes of a first men’s singles champion in 20 years.

Djokovic extended his perfect record in US Open quarter-finals to 13 wins in a row, passing Roger Federer for the most Grand Slam men’s semi-final appearances.

The victory also brought him within two victories of equaling Australian Margaret Court’s major singles count.

Djokovic remarked of breaking another record, “This is the sport that has given me so much in my life.” Growing up in a war-torn nation like Serbia, I endured a lot of adversity.

“I was fortunate to meet some very knowledgeable and passionate people.” I wouldn’t be here without their help, and I wouldn’t be here without my parents’ love and amazing sacrifice.

“That’s the long version of what goes through my mind when I hear those numbers [of records he’s broken].” There are many things for which I am grateful.”
