Roma and Chelsea are negotiating a loan deal for Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku.

Negotiations are still at the early stages, but the Serie A club could be the answer to Lukaku’s and Chelsea’s problems.

Lukaku was on loan at Inter Milan last season and has not been included in Chelsea’s preseason workouts.

In addition, he is training separately from the Blues’ first-team squad.

When Mauricio Pochettino took over at Stamford Bridge in July, he was aware of Chelsea’s intention to sell the Belgian attacker.

“If the player and club want to find a solution, it’s not up to me; it’s up to them.” In that situation, the player and the club will meet and advise me that things have changed,” Pochettino stated before of Chelsea’s Premier League home game against Luton Town on Friday (kick-off 20:00 BST).

“I’m not going to move until the club or the player asks me to.” I’m here, and I accept the situation as it was when I arrived.”

Chelsea expects to have addressed Lukaku’s future before the conclusion of the European transfer window on September 1, either through a permanent move or a loan agreement with a big fee or an obligation to buy.

They do not expect the transaction to be completed fast, and the possibility of selling Lukaku to Saudi Arabia is being discussed if there is interest before their transfer window ends on September 20.
