The England-India warm-up game in Guwahati has been canceled due to rain.

Before the rain came, India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, had won the toss and chosen to bat first.

England named 13 players, with Chris Woakes and Gus Atkinson missing out on a 15-man roster.

Their final warm-up will be against Bangladesh on Monday, before they begin their championship defense against New Zealand on Thursday (09:30 BST).

Monday’s game will be England’s final opportunity to give fast bowler Mark Wood and leg-spinner Adil Rashid some match action after they have not played since July 31 and September 8, respectively, due to injuries.

England are the current champions of the 50-over title, having defeated New Zealand on a boundary countback following a stalemate in the 2019 final at Lord’s.

On Friday, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by five wickets, with skipper Kane Williamson batting undefeated in his first outing since March.

Williamson will miss the Kiwis’ game against England on Thursday due to a knee injury.

In other news, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets, while South Africa’s match against Afghanistan was called off.

There are no warm-up games on Sunday, and New Zealand plays South Africa in the other game on Monday. The tournament’s remaining six teams play on Tuesday.
