President Biden has issued an executive order mandating that AI developers provide the US government with safety results.

It centers the global conversation on AI governance around the United States.

But the UK government hoped that by hosting a summit this week, it would be able to maintain this position.

The two-day gathering gets underway at Bletchley Park on November 1. It was sparked by worries that the quick development of AI systems might result in issues like the creation of more lethal bioweapons and incapacitating cyberattacks.

Senior research associate at Chatham House Alex Krasodomski told the BBC that the executive order demonstrated that the US thought it was the leader in dealing with such threats.
