Thiago Braz, the Rio 2016 Olympic champion, has been issued a provisional doping ban.

Thiago Braz, the 2016 Olympic champion from Brazil, has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for a doping offense.

The verdict regarding the existence or usage of the illegal substance ostarine was announced by the AIU, an independent organization.

Ostarine is identical to testosterone in its effects and is not permitted for human ingestion in any country.

In addition, the 29-year-old earned bronze in Tokyo 2020.

He will be barred from participating in any athletic activity until a final decision is reached at a hearing under World Athletics Anti-Doping guidelines or the Integrity Code of Conduct.

Braz has yet to respond to the AIU’s ruling.

The World Athletics Championships will be held from August 19 to 27.
