Noussair Mazraoui put up Leroy Sane for Bayern’s second goal, which he tucked into the far corner.

Werder got a late consolation goal from Niklas Schmidt, who fired a long-range strike into the top corner.

When Borussia Dortmund plays Wolfsburg on Sunday (16:30 BST), they will strive to close the margin to one point.

Werder had two good chances to grab the lead in the first half, with Romano Schmid whipping in a low cross that went between Mitchell Weiser’s legs before Christian Gross blazed over from eight yards.
