Brighton reject Chelsea’s £80 million proposal for midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea’s latest bid for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo is thought to be over £80 million.

Caicedo, 21, is currently with Roberto de Zerbi’s group in New Jersey, where they will face Newcastle on Friday.

Brighton are thought to have rejected the second offer immediately and are determined to keep the Ecuador international.

Caicedo is a long-term transfer target for Chelsea, and two bids have already been rejected.

Brighton, on the other hand, took a similar hard stance with Chelsea last year and succumbed when the bidding for defender Marc Cucurella exceeded £60 million.

Brighton manager De Zerbi confirmed last week that Caicedo would be in his squad next season.

The player was a significant member of the side that finished sixth in the Premier League last season, earning a place in the Europa League group stage.

Caicedo requested to leave Brighton in January, citing Arsenal’s interest.

However, in March, he signed a new contract that would last until 2027.
