Cricket World Cup 2023: India defeats England in their most recent surrender

In their most recent batting collapse, the reigning champions were bowled out for 129 in front of boisterous home support after chasing 230 on a challenging pitch.

They have now lost five times overall and four times in a row in India; this is the first World Cup that they have lost five times in a row.

Following a solid England opening partnership, Jasprit Bumrah took quick wickets of Dawid Malan and Joe Root to enliven the crowd and set off a disastrous collapse of four wickets for nine runs in 27 balls. Ten wickets at a cost of just 99 runs.

Similar to Root, Ben Stokes was hunting for a duck.

After struggling for nine balls, he was bowled by Mohammed Shami after an ugly slog. Shami also got Jonny Bairstow for 14 with an inside edge.
