Chelsea have agreed to sign Monaco and France defender Axel Disasi.

Chelsea have agreed to pay AS Monaco 45 million euros (£38.57 million) for defender Axel Disasi.

Following the injury to Wesley Fofana, Chelsea will have another right-sided centre-back option in France international Disasi.

Fofana has been out for several months following anterior cruciate ligament surgery.

Benoit Badiashile is also injured and will not be able to play till the Premier League season begins.

Chelsea’s alternatives in the center of defense currently include Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, and Levi Colwill, who is being pursued by Brighton.

Since joining Monaco from Stade de Reims in August 2020, Disasi has made 118 appearances.

He has four caps for France, earning his full international debut in last November’s World Cup defeat to Tunisia.

Following forwards Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku to Stamford Bridge, the Frenchman will become Chelsea’s third summer acquisition.

The Blues are reportedly close to signing Rennes midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu for £23.2 million, however he might be sent on loan to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg immediately after Chelsea’s ownership group purchased a majority part in the club earlier this summer.

Meanwhile, Brighton have turned down several proposals from Chelsea for Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo.

After taking over from Frank Lampard, new manager Mauricio Pochettino is restructuring his already huge squad.

So far this summer, the team has lost Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ethan Ampadu, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, and former captain Cesar Azpiliceuta.
