Hubert Hurkacz wins the Shanghai Masters over Andrey Rublev.

Hurkacz trailed 6-5 in the deciding tie-break but rallied to defeat the Russian fifth seed 6-3 3-6 7-6 (8-6).

Both men were vying for their second Masters 1,000 title, with world number 17 Hurkacz emerging victorious in a hard-fought battle.

The 26-year-old Pole delivered 21 aces on his way to his first victory at this level since winning in Miami in 2021.

Rublev, 25, has not dropped a set on his way to the final but was unable to prevent Hurkacz from sealing his eighth triumph in eight ATP Tour finals.

The world number seven is still in good shape to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin in November. He is fifth in the ‘Race to Turin’ standings, while Hurkacz jumps to 11th, 335 points behind Dane Holger Rune, who is in eighth and final qualifying position.
