Omegle: Well-known video chat platform closed following allegations of abuse

During the Covid pandemic, the service, which matched users at random in online chats, gained popularity among kids and teenagers.

However, over 50 cases involving paedophiles have referenced the website in the past few years.

According to the website’s founder, Leif Brooks, running it was “no longer sustainable, financially nor psychologically”.
