Ron Cephas Jones, star of This Is Us, has died at the age of 66.

He was most recognized for his role as a long-lost father who finds forgiveness in the series This Is Us, for which he won two Emmy Awards.

Jones’ manager told US media that he has a “long-standing pulmonary issue.” According to media sources, he received a double lung transplant in 2020.

“Anyone who had the good fortune to know him felt his kindness and heart,” his manager stated.

Jones’ passion for the theater “was evident throughout his entire career, including his recent Tony-nominated and Drama Desk Award-winning performance in Clyde’s on Broadway,” according to the statement.

Octavia Spencer, who co-starred with Jones in the sitcom Truth Be Told, was among others who paid tribute to the late actor.

She described herself as “heartbroken” by the news on Instagram.

“Ron was an incredibly talented actor and, most importantly, a wonderfully kind human being,” Spencer remarked. “Every day with Ron on set was a good day.”

Sterling K Brown, who played the son of Jones’ character William Hill in This Is Us, paid tribute to Jones on Instagram.

“Life imitated art today, and one of the most wonderful people the world has ever seen is no longer with us,” he said.
