When a shooter opened fire at a Florida high school in 2018, a former sheriff’s deputy was held not responsible for failing to provide for the safety of the children.
During the incident at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, close to Miami, Scot Peterson remained outdoors.
11 allegations against Mr. Peterson, including felony child neglect, culpable carelessness, and perjury, were dismissed.
One of the deadliest high school shootings in US history, the assault resulted in 17 fatalities and 17 injuries.
