Tottenham 5-1 Lion City Sailors: Richarlison scores hat-trick to impress Ange Postecoglou

Spurs defeated Lion City Sailors 5-1 at Singapore National Stadium to complete their Asian tour with a win.

Richarlison came on as a replacement in the second half and scored two goals in eight minutes before adding a third in stoppage time.

“I really like him [as a player],” Postecoglou told reporters in Singapore.

Shawal Anuar gave the Sailors a surprise lead after 14 minutes, but England captain Harry Kane equalized with a penalty towards the conclusion of the first half after midfielder Pape Matar Sarr was hauled down in the area.

After 73 minutes, Argentina player Giovani lo Celso scored Spurs’ fourth goal by driving home a loose ball in the six-yard box.

Richarlison joined Tottenham from Everton for £60 million last summer and has scored three goals in 35 appearances for the club.

Australian Postecoglou, who took over as manager at the beginning of July, praised the 26-year-old’s strength and work ethic, adding, “He’s always in the right areas.”

“I have a lot of time for him, and he’s one of the players I’m really excited to work with.” You try to see your players playing the football you want them to play, and I believe he can.”

Richarlison stated that he “felt good” and believes that this season could be a watershed moment in his Spurs career.

“I had too many injuries last season, but I’m feeling good now.” “My body is fine, and I’m very happy,” he remarked. “Singapore has been fantastic for me and the group.”

Richarlison’s first goal came from Lo Celso’s deflected shot, and his second came shortly after as he pounced on a sloppy clearance to head in after Postecoglou made 11 changes at halftime.

The offside flag denied him a hat-trick twice, but his perseverance paid off when he surged through the Sailors’ defense to coolly flick in his third.
