Neal Skupksi and Wesley Koolhof advance to the third round at Wimbledon 2023 with their victory.

In the second round, the top seeds defeated Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler of Australia 7-6 (7-3).

Skupski and her male doubles partner Koolhof have never won a Grand Slam tournament, but they did make it to the final of the 2016 US Open.

Later on Monday, Jamie Murray and his partner Taylor Townsend will play in the second round of the mixed doubles tournament.

Heather Watson and Joe Salisbury, a British duo, are also aiming for the quarterfinals.

Skupksi and American partner Desirae Krawczyk’s defense of their Wimbledon mixed doubles crown was ended in the first round by Joran Vliegen and Yifan Xu of Belgium and China, respectively.

Although the Liverpool native has never advanced past the third round of men’s doubles at Wimbledon, he and Koolhof are heavy favorites this year after reaching their first Grand Slam final and the semifinals at Queen’s in 2018.

Meanwhile, Naiktha Bains and Maia Lumsden of Great Britain beat Viktoria Hruncakova and Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 to advance to the round of eight in the women’s doubles competition.

Hugo Coquelin and Johannus Monday fell to Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden of India and Australia in the second round, 7-5, 6-3.
